Restoration does not have an innovation problem. It has a scaling problem.
Our techniques are not new. They come from generations of traditional knowledge, tested by farmers and pastoralists long before we arrived, and now verified and refined with modern science and technology. We use satellites, sensors, and field research to measure what works, not to replace what communities already know. The world does not need thousands of new restoration inventions. There are already proven methods rooted in local wisdom, waiting to be taken seriously. What is needed is to scale them.
Our flagship method, Kisiki Hai, has grown so well-known across Tanzania that in many villages people know us by that name before they know the name LEAD Foundation. We are very proud of that, It means the method has outgrown us and become the community’s own!
