Enhancing Agricultural Sustainability through Nature-based Climate Solutions (EAS-NbCS)

Summary

EAS-NbCS is a research project exploring how nature-based climate solutions can help smallholder farmers adapt to a changing climate across Tanzania’s different agro-ecological zones, from the semi-arid center to the coast and the islands.

The project maps and documents the nature-based solutions farmers already use, studies how well they work, and builds farmers’ capacity to practise, sustain, and scale them. By bringing together researchers, farmers, and climate experts, EAS-NbCS aims to put solid evidence behind the methods that help communities grow food and protect their land as the climate shifts.

Funded by COSTECH and led by the University of Dar es Salaam, the project brings together LEAD Foundation, the State University of Zanzibar (SUZA), and the Tanzania Meteorological Authority. Within the partnership, LEAD leads the work of strengthening farmers’ capacity to adopt and sustain these solutions.
