A robust ‘Training of Trainers’ (ToT) program, has been conducted to capable candidates who were selected from each targeted village to become regreening champions and trainers in their respective villages. The Training of Trainers trainings has been conducted to 100 regreening champions, 50 from each village, who were selected amongst the villagers based on the project requirements and criteria.

The participants have been trained on the regreening techniques and are required to train the techniques to their fellow farmers and pastoralists. The champions will also need to show by example the techniques they are teaching by practicing on their own lands where they will be required to grow at least 40 trees each. The regreening champions will also train the techniques to all institutions in the village including primary and secondary schools.

The regreening champions will be trained at least once per year for the purpose of maintaining the knowledge and to further develop their skills, share experiences, address challenges which might arise and learn new techniques which might be useful for the success of project.

The regreening champions will also be provided with a booklet for keeping records and a cheap smart-feature phone for sending project data. They will be trained on how to register progress of the project on the booklets and how to use the phones. The recorded data will need to be sent to the district coordinator through SMS every month for the purpose of monitoring and evaluation.

With the regreening knowledge they received during the Training of Trainers training they are now more than ready to start a regreen revolution in Monduli
