We believe that changing children’s mindsets will impact changes in the entire family, the community on a large scale and the future generation. We want our regreening efforts to be sustainable and long-lasting, which is why we don’t only focus on providing knowledge about restoration to our beloved champion farmers, but for more than five years we have campaigned to involve school children in our regreening revolution. How we do this? After a first pilot project together with BlinK in Kibaigwa town, we now partner with the Austrian organization Awaken Trees to provide environmental education to primary and secondary schools in rural Tanzania. We have already developed two Kisiki Hai booklets for different age groups to be used in classes and extracurricular activities. They explain the importance, benefits and methods of how to restore nature using Kisiki Hai. Since this technique is so easy to understand, even children in primary school are able to apprehend it and tell their families about it. Apart from providing these booklets, we also train teachers about Kisiki Hai to enable them to spread their knowledge to their pupils and the whole community. In 40 schools, we have already implemented our Kisiki Hai Clubs, extracurricular activities led by the trained teachers, where the pupils not only learn about Kisiki Hai but also restore trees using Kisiki Hai to experience the method in practice. They have already restored over 22,000 FMNR trees in the school areas and there are many more to come as they spread their knowledge to their families and communities. This is how we make sure the Regreen Revolution will keep going for years!
