Our regreening projects bring a massive impact to the community and the environment. In Pembamoto village where we run a regreening project with Justdiggit using rainwater harvesting technique, they have not experienced any rain season for almost 9 months. Luckily the regreening project brings them hope, they can now get grass for livestock, roofing materials etc. from the project area.

While in some parts of the country, livestock are struggling and dying because of lack of grass due to an unexpected long dry season without rain, the situation is different in Pembamoto and the neighboring villages. Hundreds of farmers and pastoralists are getting grass for livestock from the project area.

The most important thing is that we have trained them how to harvest the grass sustainably and how to make sure the newly restored and regreened land is there to stay. The money they get from selling the grass is used in the village development projects and investing in restoration and regreening other drylands in the village.
